More Love For Dove

“Imagine a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety.”

Dove’s social mission to build positive self-esteem in women and girls is an effort that I support 100%.  I truly believe it is so important to encourage girls from a young age to believe they are beautiful, smart, and important.  Dove is already known for a great product, and I hope they get even more recognition for a great cause!

Did you know that only 4% of women worldwide consider themselves beautiful?  Visit the Dove site to help increase that number.

Dove {soap} Creams Your Skin!

I am a creature of habit, especially when it comes to skincare and “beauty” products.  About a month ago I ran out of my normal face wash, so I grabbed a bar of Dove for a temporary cleanser (which my mom uses).  After a week, I agreed that it did the job, and decided to give it a try for a while to see what happened.  Honestly, my face hasn’t been this clear in a long, long time.  I really love what Dove has done for my skin, and I’m actually no longer interested in purchasing my old (and pricier) fash wash.  I have always had sensitive, combination skin, but over the past year (after ditching “the pill” to give my body a break from the hormones) my face starting breaking out like crazy.  I am sure that my body re-adjusting over this time period has helped my complexion, but I’m still convinced the Dove bar soap played a big part!  Even InStyle agrees, voting it best bar soap since 2008.

Spin Pin

I have the most “unfixable” hair there is.  The texture is very fine, and slick, and really the only thing it’s good at is staying straight!  I bought the Goody spin pin just to see what it would do… and it worked!  I wore them to a wedding, and the spiral pins stayed put all night {even through the electric slide}.  There are a few short layers that I wish would stay put, but I’m sure it’s nothing a bobbie pin or two won’t fix.  The longer my hair gets, the better I think they’ll work.

Primped and Polished

Every Sunday, without fail, I paint my nails.  I always think of it as my way of having a new outlook on the week ahead!  At least twice a week I spend 30 minutes in the bathroom prepping my legs for self-tanner, as I was unfortunately born with the whitest legs south of the Mason-Dixon.  And here and there I insert new “beauty rituals” as I go: at-home hair coloring, face masks, hair masks concocted in the kitchen, hand waxing treatments.  Every time my husband turns the corner I am poking, plucking, primping, or polishing something!

So, here’s a thank-you to my hubby.  For not using my good shampoo, or my new cuticle clippers, and for putting up with an odd-ball like me:)

(… I forgive you for using my raser to shave your beard.)

Egyptian Magic

…sounds like an infomercial.  Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was at some point!  But, I’m a sucker for skincare products, and I bought in to the all-natural sales pitch I got from the lady at the cosmetic store.  And I am so glad I did!

I was surprised to find out how many uses this cream has.  It’s not only great for a nightly face moisturizer (too heavy for under makeup), but can be used as a hand cream or on cuticles, for diaper rash, stretch marks, eczema, etc.  The concoction has a short list of ingredients: Olive Oil, Beeswax, Honey, Propolis, Bee Pollen, and Royal Jelly.  What I love about it is it’s ultra moisturizing for my face, but doesn’t cause break-outs, or make me feel greasy.  My skin can be pretty unpredictable.  A lot of products make my skin burn, but not this!  Egyptian Magic was definitely a good investment!

Hair Tie Face-Off

For me, it was definitely a “love at first sight” affair with Emi-Jay hair ties.  They’re just… pretty!  And of course I was charmed by the Emi-Jay story, and it helped that every celebrity from Jennifer Aniston to Heidi Klum is a fan.

BUT- Are the “pretty” hair ties worth the $12 price tag (and you only get 5)?  Let’s compare the pretty ones to a classic…

I have to admit, after using both, I prefer the oldy, but… errr Goody:)  I’m definitely still a fan of the Emi-Jay.  They look really pretty in your hair (while they stay put, and until they start to wrinkle up).  And, though it sounds strange, Emi-Jay hair ties look really pretty on your wrist!  And, don’t leave the mark a Goody tie does.  But, if you need a hair tie that will stay put all day long through work or even a long jog, you’ll need to grab a Goody.  Even better, Goody hair ties cost less than $3 for 15 ties or more.  But, hey, this is just my opinion!
